Eskom has confirmed that Stage 3 load shedding will be in effect for the Springboks’ second Rugby World Cup 2023 match against Romania on Sunday, 17 September.

In announcing their plan for the weekend, Eskom confirmed that Stage 3 load shedding will kick in at 16:00 on Sunday.

The Springboks’ Pool B match against Romania kicks off at 15:00 (SA time) on Sunday.
Stage 3 will therefore be in effect for the second half.

Eskom promised to publish another update should any significant changes occur.

Eskom pleaded with the public to switch off non-essential appliances – in particular geysers and pool pumps – to reduce the demand, especially between 17:00 and 21:00.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town adjusted its schedule following the Eskom announcement.
The City of Cape Town schedule will follow the same load shedding pattern as Eskom on Sunday.
