Akona and Odwa Ndungane: Rugby fever and a new game

It’s been a crazy couple of days in the rugby world! A certain IRB-sanctioned tournament in France has grabbed all the headlines of late. From debates around Rassie’s lightshows and the butchering of national anthems, to questions around law interpretations and more. Certainly, there hasn’t been a shortage of talking points or fierce Twitter debates. 

On the lighter side of things, Hollywoodbets recently launched their latest TV commercial featuring the sport’s most famous twins, Odwa and Akona Ndungane along with World Cup winner Butch James and Kaya Malotana – all former Springboks who share over 60 Test caps between them. To celebrate the ad, the Team at Hollywoodbets has also introduced a brand-new crash game featuring Odwa and Akona, called “Rugby Run Twins”.

The Advert – #Wanna Bet?

Winding through mangrove swamps and nestled between the Indian Ocean and the M4, Beachwood Country Club’s idyllic setting contrasted perfectly with the chaos of the shoot. Filmed on a typically crisp winter day in Durban, the ad features the Twins tearing across the golf course as they engage in a series of comical rugby challenges, betting against each other.

Hilarity ensues as these challenges result in Butch James crashing his cart into a hedge, golfers interrupted mid-swing and curious onlookers –comprising of Hollywoodbets Team Members – betting on proceedings while Kaya Malotana commentates on all the action.

Rugby Run Twins

Launched in conjunction with the start of that IRB tournament mentioned in the introduction, Rugby Run Twins is a crash game that gives you the chance to win up to R5 000 000. The game puts a distinctly oval-shaped twist on popular games like Aviator and JetX.

So how does it work? Simple!

1. Place your bet before the player (who is modelled after Odwa and Akona) starts running. A multiplier will appear on screen once the player starts his run. This multiplier will increase as the player continues running.
2. The aim of Rugby Run Twins is to cash your bet out before the player is tackled. Cash your bet out before the tackle and your bet will win – (stake x multiplier at the moment you cashed out = your winnings). Remember, the player can be tackled at any time.
3. Fail to cash out before the player is tackled and you will lose your bet.

To celebrate the launch of Rugby Run Twins, Hollywoodbets is giving away a share of R70 000 to punters between 15 September and 28 October 2023. 10 winners will be selected every week, each bagging a cool R1 000.
