The Springboks collected a 24-8 victory over Australia thanks to an immense physical effort from the men in Green and Gold.

The Springboks started very strong and got the early score through Damian De Allende while Australia’s Matt Philip was sent to the bin after repeated infringements leading up to the score.

Australia used some time-wasting and gamesmanship to help get them through the period of being down to 14 men without taking further damage.

Errors cost the Springboks dearly as they failed to make the most of clear dominance and it seemed like Australia might get back into the game.

Eventually Australia kicked a penalty to close the gap to just four points and it seemed frustration might begin to mount for the Springboks.

The decision-making by the Springboks on attack cost them putting the game to bed but a moment of magic ensured they would still sport a good lead at the break.

Canaan Moodie, making his debut provided the spark with a brilliant jumping take to pluck a hoist out of the air before he took off running and got away from the defenders and in at the corner.

Willemse missed the conversion from out wide after the hooter and South Africa led 12-3 at the break.

The Second half started in a simliar pattern but a crucial score early left the Wallabies chasing the game with Mostert the man finishing off the slick backline move.

Australia rallied but were imprecise in attack and came up short time and again due to poor discipline.

The match threatened to boil over until the monent that sent sparks flying as Makazole Mapimpi scored the Springboks first try before kicking off a brawl by grabbing the face of Marika Koroibete.’

Mapimpi was awarded the try but went to the sin-bin before Frans Steyn could even convert the score.

Australia would add a late score but ultimately didn’t really come close to making a game of it in the dying embers.
