English club set to win race for RG Snyman’s signature – report
Sought-after Springbok lock RG Snyman is reportedly on the verge of signing for English club Bath despite interest from the Stormers.

After it was recently confirmed that RG Snyman would be leaving Irish club Munster, it then became apparent that the Stormers were leading the ‘South African race’ for his services, but ultimately a big-money move to Bath in England could turn out to be his ultimate destination.

According to the latest report from The Telegraph, “Bath should receive clarity on the 28-year-old’s decision as soon as the end of this week, with the expectation at Farleigh House that Snyman will be reprising his working relationship with (coach Johann) Van Graan”.
As it is, it was recently reported by L’Equipe that the World Cup winner had apparently agreed a deal with English Bath for a total of £450,000 per year.

THE STORMERS WERE STILL HOPEFUL OF SIGNING SNYMAN
Other reports in Sunday newspaper Rapport now suggest the Stormers are the only South African side still in the running for Snyman’s signature as new equity partners Red Disa are reportedly hoping to throw in a competitive R13 million (in the region of £550,000) offer to make it happen. The deal would be assisted by SA Rugby as Snyman is a Player of National Interest, and so the national body would pay a portion of his salary.
The main concern is locating the funds in time as Red Disa’s equity deal has only just gone through.

MUNSTER WILL BID HIM FAREWELL NEXT YEAR
“The province can also confirm that RG Snyman will depart Munster for a new playing opportunity on completion of his contract at the end of the season,” a Munster statement read. “A hugely popular figure at the province, Snyman won his second World Cup with the Springboks last month.
“He has twice returned from long-term injuries during his time at Munster and played an important role last season, making six appearances in the province’s charge to the URC title.
“He is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a chest/shoulder injury.”
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that his World Cup winning teammate Jean Kleyn has signed a contract extension.
