The 2021 Currie Cup has flown under the radar since it kicked off last month, but if you weren’t aware, the majority of teams in the Premier Division have already played as many as eight of their 12 matches.

The 2021 Currie Cup has flown under the radar since it kicked off last month, but if you weren’t aware, the majority of teams in the Premier Division have already played as many as eight of their 12 matches.

Such has been the impact Covid-19 and the focus on the British & Irish Lions tour that the country’s premier domestic tournament has gone largely unnoticed this season.

The Sharks find themselves at the top of the standings and are ahead of their closest challengers, the Bulls, by a single point.

The Cheetahs are rock-bottom in the standings, albeit with a game in hand over the majority of their rivals.

The next round of matches are scheduled for Wednesday, 11 August when the Pumas host the Sharks at the Mbombela Stadium (14:30), the Bulls welcome Griquas to Loftus Versfeld (16:45) and the Cheetahs and Lions clash in Kimberley (19:00).
