Star All Blacks wing Sevu Reece is very close to joining Montpellier in France when his NZ Rugby Union contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign according to new reports.

Rugbypass report that Reece could sign with Montpellier.

Reece, had to have surgery for a major knee injury last year, which prevented him from playing in the World Cup. He did, however, make a spectacular comeback to the Crusaders earlier this year, scoring three tries in their first two Super Rugby Pacific games.

Montpellier hunting Sevu Reece

As one of the world’s most lethal finishers with 23 caps, 15 tries, and 49 touchdowns in 62 Crusaders games, Reece is a talent any side whould want on their books.

Montpellier are believed to be in advanced negotiations with Reece.

A move to France would mean that Reece would not be eligible for All Blacks selection under current rules.

All Blacks star backs himself for explosive return

Reece backed himself to return from injury better than ever and has made a great start to the Super Rugby campaign.

“One-thousand per cent.

“If anything, I’ll be even better,” Reece said according to Stuff.

“I can tell you that now, because the way I’ve been training, my rehab time, I’m way ahead of most of the things I should be doing. The other day, I ran a top speed, and that speed was what I normally run in a game.

“I’ve heard of people, and I’ve seen people come back and not perform back to where they left off, and I’ve also seen guys come back and go crazy. All those things come down to how much you really want it, and how much you want to show to the people that you’re still here. I’m 100% confident that I’ll be back.”

Montpellier are in the market for x-factor outside backs having failed to secure the signature of Huw Jones.
