Just one fixture on Wednesday night, where two of the league’s struggling teams battled it out in front of a sparse crowd.
There is a big weekend of fixtures coming up, but this game was vital to the PSL bottom half teams.
Ajax Cape Town 2-0 SuperSport United
Struggling Ajax Cape Town managed three valuable points when they beat SuperSport United at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night.
The hosts hoisted themselves out of the relegation playoffs from Fagrie Lakay and Mario Booysen.
In a largely subdued first half, Muhsin Ertugral’s men broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half with a low strike into the corner of the box from Fagrie Lakay.
Thabo Mnyamane missed an opportunity to equalise an hour in with a free kick outside the box snaffled by the keeper.
Mario Booysen sealed the result for the hosts in the 77th minute, finishing easily from close range.
