Mamelodi Sundowns resume their title defence on Wednesday, as they welcome Maritzburg United to Loftus Versfeld.

The Brazilians come off a Caf Champions League defeat to Nigerian champions Lobi Stars last Friday, and will be looking to get back to winning ways against a side which has been the league’s whipping boys this season.

The Team of Choice has been from the heights they achieved last season, where they finished fourth in the league to go with their Nedbank Cup final appearance.

They come up against a side who remain the only unbeaten side in the league in the current campaign.

Sundowns are fourth on the log, having won six and drawn seven, and are seven points behind log leaders, Bidvest Wits, with four games in hand.

This sees them place fourth on the log, and a win on Wednesday could see them jump up to third – four points above Polokwane City, whom they were scheduled to meet last week, with the game cancelled due to their continental commitments.
