Orlando Pirates will look to quickly overcome the disappointment of an early Nedbank Cup exit as they travel to KwaMashu to take on Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday night.

A win for the Buccaneers will see them close the gap on log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns to just one point as they look to continue their recovery from what was a nightmarish campaign last season where they finished in 11th place – their lowest finish in the PSL era.

Form guide

Despite the setback in cup action, they have been the form team in the league this year as they have only lost once in eight games played in 2018 so far. The only other blemish in this period was a 1-1 draw at home to Polokwane City in January.

In total, Pirates have collected 19 points in this period and they will no doubt treasure the three against rivals Kaizer Chiefs the most.

The new year has also seen the Buccaneers find scoring form as they have found the net 18 times in the second half of the league campaign, a far cry from last year where they scored just 11 times in 15 games.

On the contrary, their opponents have struggled this year after starting off as early pace setters.

Arrows have a solitary win in their last six outings, coming against 15th place Ajax Cape Town – the same side responsible for Pirates only defeat.

Abafana Besthende have just five wins in total and are sitting 10th on the log with just seven games remaining.

Head to head

The reverse fixture between these two sides ended goalless as the home side battled to find their scoring boots.

Pirates have however enjoyed dominant form over their opponents, winning 12 of their 22 league encounters, with just five going the other way.

Kick off

The match kicks off at 20:15.

TV and live stream

It will be broadcast live on Supersport 4 (SS4).
