Telkom Netball League kick off in Polokwane

The 2023 edition of the domestic, Telkom Netball League starts on Freedom Day, 27 April at the Ngoako Ramahlodi Sports Complex in Polokwane.

The 2023 edition of the domestic netball league, the Telkom Netball League (TNL), starts on Freedom Day, Thursday, 27 April, at the Ngoako Ramahlodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane.

The League

The league has become a fixture in the calendar, with games being broadcast on SuperSport. The league has two legs with two divisions with a total of 15 teams.

Division 1 comprises of seven teams, while Division 2 has eight. The first leg will take place at the Ngoako Ramahlodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, from Thursday, 27 April, until Monday, 1 May. Tickets for the event are R20 for adults and R10 for children.

The second and final leg of the league will be hosted at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, the home of the TNL. Games will be played between 2 June and 1 July 2023.

With a promotion renegation system at play, teams will be looking to start strong to give them a shot at the silverware and secure their place in the league.

  • Aloes- Eastern Cape (promoted after winning the Division 2 completion in 2022.)
  • Crinums- Free State
  • Fireballs- Gauteng
  • Flames- North West
  • Jaguars- Gauteng
  • Stars- Kwazulu Natal
  • Southern Stings- Western Cape

Telkom Netball League Division 2 teams:

  • Baobabs- Limpopo
  • Comet- Eastern Cape
  • Diamonds- Northern Cape
  • Lilies- Limpopo
  • Queens- Kwazulu Natal
  • Sonblome- Free State
  • Sunbirds- Mpumalanga
  • Tornados- Western Cape

Netball world cup

All eyes will switch to Cape Town as they host the Netball World Cup. The event starts on 28 July 2023, with 16 teams battling it out for the title. Telkom will be a sponsor of that tournament as well.
