The PSL’s most booked players: Every league has its assortment of usual suspects who keep the disciplinary committee’s busy and the Premier Soccer League is no different.
Here we look at the five players currently active in the PSL who sport the most bookings.
There are certain risks associated with a long career as a centre back, and in his time at five different PSL clubs, Bevan Fransman picked up his fair share of bookings.
Fransman’s career has included spells in Europe. During his time with Hapoel Tel Aviv he turned out in the Uefa Champions League.
He has only been sent off four times in his career, twice for picking up two yellows and twice seeing straight red.
The Bafana Bafana skipper likely wears most of his bookings as badge of honour. He has spent his entire career in South Africa.
He left Ajax Cape Town for Bidvest Wits at the outset of the 2014/15 season, and Gavin Hunt would make him club captain.
Hlatshwayo’s first dismissal’s for both Ajax and Wits came in matches against Orlando Pirates.

No currently active PSL player has picked up more dismissals for a second bookable offence than Stellenbosch FC defender Morgan Gould.
Gould has been sent off for a second booking on five occassions in over a decade playing in South Africa’s top flight. He has also played for Jomo Cosmos, Kaizer Chiefs and had two spells at SuperSport United.
The Sundowns skipper is the only midfielder on this list, earning his way in with bags of cynical fouls that have aided the teams he has played for immensely.
Kekana has delivered his best football at Sundowns, giving Pitso Mosimane’s team some much-needed steel.
The number that really matters to Kekana will be the six league winners medals he has at home.
SuperSport United defender Clayton Daniels is not a man to be trifled with as Gaston Sirino learned in the 2019 MTN 8 semi-final.
Daniels is a tough and uncompromising defender who has plied his trade for Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic. He broke through in Cape Town with Ajax.
His 63 yellow cards in the PSL are evidence of his willingness to mix it, but he had done a good job of testing the limits of referees and staying on the park.
