Mzansi Super League: Tshwane Spartans vs Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

Tshwane Spartans are the only Mzansi Super League side yet to host a home game, and they finally get their chance on Sunday as they welcome Nelson Mandela Bay Giants to Supersport Park in Centurion.

Both teams have three matches under their belt, with the hosts boasting a single win – against bottom side, Paarl Rocks – while the Port Elizabeth-based outfit in second place with two wins.

The most recent of those victories came on Friday, when the Giants outclassed Durban Heat at St George’s Park by restricting them to 127/6 in their 20 overs before losing just one wicket as they chased down the target with two and a half overs to spare.

The Spartans visited the same opponents in their last outing in a rain-affected match that ended in defeat as they posted 139/9 in the 19 overs the weather permitted before the rain intervened once more when Heat were 129/6 in the 17th over, ten runs ahead of the Duckworth-Lewis par score.

Following the defeat, the hosts were dealt a further on Friday with the withdrawal of speedster, Lungi Ngidi, who has been ruled out for three months after sustaining a knee injury while on tour with the national team in Australia.

Titans paceman Corbin Bosch has been called up to the side as the replacement.
