Paarl Rocks vs Tshwane Spartans

The second Mzansi Super League fixture scheduled for Sunday takes place at Boland Park, where the Paarl Rocks square off against the Tshwane Spartans.

The match will be a second outing for the visitors, who will be licking their wounds after losing to Cape Town Blitz at Newlands in the opening match on Friday night.

Despite boasting big names such as AB de Villiers and Rilee Rossouw, the Spartans were convincingly beaten and will look to get a win under the belt early on in the tournament.

They come up against a side yet to take to the field, who will want nothing more than to hit the ground running, and could do just that as their two opening matches are in their own backyard.

Paarl Rocks are captained by former Proteas opener Henry Davids, who leads the side in the absence of Faf du Plessis, currently on his way back from Australia with the Proteas.

Other big names who will not be in the reckoning on Sunday is left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and top order batsman Aiden Markram, who – like their skipper – should be in the team sheet when the Rocks next take the field on Tuesday evening.

They do, however, have in their immediate squad the likes of veteran batsman Vaughan van Jaarsveld and Cameron Delport, as well as Bjorn Fortuin, whose spin can come in handy on the Boland Park surface.

Perhaps the biggest drawcard in the available squad is West Indian all-rounder Dwaine Bravo, who has invaluable experience in the shortest format, having played in leagues all over the world.
