Former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje will be among the highest-paid UFC fighters this weekend with a $511,000 fight purse. Alex Pereira ($316,000), Jan Blachowicz ($216,000), and Stephen Thompson ($166,000) round out the top-five highest-paid fighters at UFC 291 this weekend.

Gaethje looked like an entirely different fighter facing his fellow American five years after losing by TKO to Poirier. In round one, he won the majority of exchanges. The fight was quickly ended in round two when Gaethje, regarded as the most thrilling athlete in the UFC by some, felled Poirier with a clean head kick.

This resulted in the lightweight winning the “Baddest Motherf*****” belt, a novelty title that had last been held by Jorge Masvidal in 2019, who defeated Nate Diaz to become the first champion.
