Motorsport

Former Italian Formula One driver Alex Zanardi, who won four Paralympic gold medals after having both legs amputated in a motor racing accident, was seriously injured on Friday in a crash while competing in a handbike race in Italy. Zanardi collided with a truck while participating in one of the stages of the ‘Obiettivo tricolore’ relay race in Tuscany, the AGI news agency reported.

Football 

Former Ivory Coast international defender Emmanuel Aka died on Friday at the age of 69 from diabetic complications, his family said.

Ligue 1 club Marseille have been fined three million euros ($3.36 million) for breaching financial fair play rules but escaped a ban from European competition, UEFA announced on Friday. 

The Italian government on Thursday agreed to ease quarantine restrictions for football teams in the case of positive virus tests as Serie A prepares to return to action this weekend.
