Just a month to go before Bafana Bafana’s crucial Afcon 2019 qualifier against Libya, there’s still some uncertainty over the make-up of Stuart Baxter’s technical staff, but Safa president, Danny Jordaan has somewhat of a solution.

Baxter had roped in ex-international striker, Shaun Bartlett as one of his assistants in late 2018, but the former Charlton Athletic frontman signed a more permanent deal with Kaizer Chiefs as new coach, Ernst Middendorp’s aide.

It has since been unclear whether he will be part of the away team’s dugout when they take on the Mediterranean Knights in a yet to be confirmed venue between 22 and 24 March, but the Englishman has been vocal about his desire to keep the same technical team from Bafana’s previous match.

Safa is willing to help Baxter land Bartlett’s services

However, Jordaan has extended a helping hand, saying Safa are willing to help land Bartlett’s services for the big clash.

“It’s his [Baxter’s] choice. If he asks‚ we will certainly give him whatever support we can‚” Jordaan is quoted by The Sowetan.

“He must decide whether he wants Shaun and we will do whatever is necessary.

“I did see Shaun in Port Elizabeth‚ because they [Chiefs] played there [in the recent Nedbank Cup clash against the Magic FC].”

South Africa need to avoid defeat against Libya to join Nigeria as the two Group E teams to qualify for the continental showpiece which will be held in Egypt between 15 June and 13 July.

The Super Eagles secured qualification with a 1-1 draw against Bafana at FNB Stadium, taking their tally to ten points.

Baxter’s charges are currently sitting on nine points, two ahead of Libya on seven points, while the group’s whipping boys, Seychelles have just a solitary point ahead of their visit to Nigeria.
