The former Bafana Bafana and Chiefs skipper, Tovey, guided the national side to the CAF African Cup of Nations glory in 1996 and lamented the behaviour of the fans.

The man also known as ‘Mokoko’ didn’t hide his feelings when he reacted to the current squad, saying the players must show their quality.

Tovey seems to understand the emotions of the fans but lamented the hooligans who attacked the young coach, Zwane in Rustenburg but critiques the players.

“The problem can’t be around the professionalism of the club because Chiefs are totally professional, so where they are lacking is the quality of players or the technical side or both,” said the 60-year-old per SowetanLIVE.

TOVEY UNIMPRESSED WITH FAN BEHAVIOUR IN PHOKENG

The retired centre-back, Tovey, who also coached AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns, continued to criticise the ugly scenes that rocked the Royal Bafokeng Palace last Saturday.

The Durban-born coach and former SAFA technical director has called on the players to get their act together and challenge for trophies.

“My message to the current Chiefs team would be: “First try to get your act together and win things on home soil and only then worry about continental competition. Doing well domestically will get Chiefs the results to compete continentally,” he added.
