JUST IN: “Under the Radar” Proteas DESTROY Australia

A superb team performance from the Proteas saw them beat Australia by 134 runs to go top of the World Cup group.

Proteas displayed a commanding performance to beat Australia by 134 runs to win their second World Cup match.

Having beaten the Aussies 3-2 in the ODI series last month, the stage was set for two of the biggest cricketing nations to do battle.

The Aussies won the toss and elected to field first.

Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock put a 100 plus partnership to lay a solid foundation for the middle order batsmen. De Kock went on to score his second successive century of the tournament before getting bowled by Glenn Maxwell.

Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen combined for a 50 runs partnership to get the Proteas over the 200 mark.

A late cameo from Marco Jansen saw South Africa put on a total of 311.

Three quick wickets from Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi put the Aussies on the back foot early on.

South African-born Marnus Labuschagne tried to take the game forward for Australia but wickets kept falling at regular interval. He was eventually dismissed for 46 by Jansen.

The Proteas next play Netherlands next week Tuesday looking to make it three out of three. Man of the match de Kock said it was a great win for the team.
