South Africa’s top talent have taken centre stage at the ongoing SA 20 but who has done enough to book their Proteas spot?

With virtually no international T20 action for the Proteas before the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, many players will be using the ongoing SA 20 to book their tickets for North America.
The power-packed Durban Super Giants currently lead the log standings after eight matches while MI Cape Town sit rock bottom with just two victories from eight matches.

The Proteas will be in action at this year’s T20 World Cup in North America between 1 to 29 June 2024. They’ve been drawn in Group D alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal.

“There is a T20 World Cup later this year. I want to be in a position to hopefully put in strong performances to be in the reckoning for that. The last few series I haven’t been playing; obviously there have been guys who have played really well for the Proteas.” – Rassie van der Dussen told IOL.
“I’m realistic in the sense that my national T20 numbers in the last year, albeit not being bad, it hasn’t shot the lights out. So, if I am in the conversation or not, I want to be in a position to put in strong performances because I know what I can do. Hopefully, this is the start of that.”
