Perhaps a venue change will be the answer for the home side, with the series moving on to the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Tuesday, 12 September, a ground that has seen South Africa lose just one match from 11 attempts.

Key battle

While Kagiso Rabada has been more expensive than usual in this series, there is no doubt the Australians know how dangerous he can be. He averages just 28.30 with the ball at a strike rate of 27.80 when playing the Aussies.

With Josh Inglis playing for a World Cup place, he will be looking to avoid the South African speedster, with Rabada having removed him twice for just 15 runs in this series, having bowled 12 balls to him.

Stat attack

The average score batting first at this ground is 249 – across the last 10 matches, that rises slightly to 252.

David Warner has passed 80 in three of his last six ODI innings.

Temba Bavuma has three ODI centuries in the last 12 months; all other South African batters have just three combined.

Despite winning the first two ODIs, Australia have lost 11 of their last 14 ODIs against South Africa.
