Australia had posted 434/4 in their allotted 50 overs with skipper Ricky Ponting top-scoring with 164 off 105 deliveries.

The Proteas replied with 438/9, scoring the winning runs off the penultimate ball off the match thanks for a boundary by wicketkeeper – and now Proteas coach – Mark Boucher.

Herschelle Gibbs was just one of the many heroes that day with his 175 off 111 deliveries.
