A total of 590 players will be up for sale at the two-day auction as they all look to be snapped up by one of the 10 competing franchises.

Proteas fast bowler Anrich Nortje was the lone South African retained for this year’s IPL and he remains with the Delhi Capitals.

SA Under-19 star Dewald Brevis, nicknamed ‘Baby AB’ and mentored by Proteas great AB de Villiers as reported by The South African website, is among those looking for franchise willing to gamble on him after he impressed for South Africa at the ongoing U19 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.

Affies-educated Brevis has a reserve price of 20 Rs Lakhs (R400 000).

In 2021 former Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis, who is currently out of favour with the national team selectors, led the Chennai Super Kings to their fourth IPL title and ended the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer (633 runs).

Du Plessis has a reserve price of 200 Rs Lakhs (R4 million).

Also available for 200 Rs Lakhs is Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock who was surprisingly released by the Mumbai Indians as well as speedster Kagiso Rabada who was deemed surplus to requirements by the Delhi Capitals.
