Faf du Plessis

How Faf found shopping in Chennai to be a little trickier than in Pretoria

Faf has developed a cult following in Chennai… and they pretty much follow him everywhere.

Faf du Plessis

Proteas captain, Faf du Plessis is used to scores of adoring fans looking to grab is attention or maybe get as close a glimpse as they possibly can, but that’s mostly on game day.

Of course, during his time off there will be the odd fan looking to have a chat or take a photo, but when in India, leisure time is a whole new ball game… well, if you’re a world famous cricketer.

What was meant to be a trip to the mall with his coach at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), former New Zealand skipper, Stephen Fleming turned out to be a spectator event, with scores of fans – plus self-appointed paparazzi – looking to get the best shot of the star batsman they could manage.

When his coach mentions how he always loses his shirts, this is what he means… but you might wanna cover your eyes.

He can’t have been too taken aback by the attention though – that’s if Titans teammate and former Proteas all rounder, Albie Morkel had warned him.

In a recent interview, Morkel was quoted recounting his time at CSK, when he was invited over for dinner at the extremely former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni’s house, which is constantly surrounded by hundreds of people, looking for a chance to get a glimpse of the superstar.

While our Faf hasn’t reached Dhoni’s cult status, he will no doubt be shook after receiving the amount of attention he hadn’t experience since arriving in Adelaide after “mintgate“.
