India and the Proteas are currently well clear at the top of the standings in the number one and number two positions at the Cricket World Cup, and are all but assured of a semi-final berth.

There will still be great expectations as these two teams clash on Sunday, with arguably one of the games of the tournament set to get under way at 10.30am (SA time).

The Proteas have performed extremely well so far at the World Cup, and there is an enduring hope that they could follow in the footsteps of the Springboks and complete a World Cup ‘double’.

PROTEAS INSPIRED BY BOKS

“As a team, we drew inspiration from the Springboks winning the Rugby World Cup for a fourth time,” said Proteas captain Temba Bavuma. “We celebrated as we gathered around the TV in our team room in the early hours of the morning in India and watched the incredible display of heroics from our Boks. Their success encourages our success.”

Just as the Boks were spurred on by South Africans sending messages of support to the team, the Proteas will hope to be similarly inspired by a groundswell of unwavering support from fans at home.

CSA acknowledges the transformative potential of this World Cup in bringing South Africans from all walks of life together.

CSA Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe said: “The tournament serves as a platform not only for our cricketers to display their exceptional skills, but also for our nation to exemplify unity, resilience, and the powerful spirit of togetherness. We can create lasting memories, celebrate our diversity, and cherish the pride of being South African.”
