Cricket World Cup: Bavuma OUT for a duck, Proteas struggle against Australia

Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first but the Proteas batsman only lasted four balls before he was dismissed.

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma continued to struggle in this World Cup and was dismissed for a duck against Australia on Thursday.

Before play was interrupted by rain, the Proteas were struggling at 44/4.

Temba Bavuma won the toss and has elected the Proteas to bat first against Australia in the World Cup semi-final.

Australian bowling duo of Josh Hazlehood and Mitchell Starc struck early to leave South Africa stranded 24/4.

Bavuma’s struggles continue in the Cricket World Cup

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller were on the crease looking to give the Proteas any sort of resistance against the Australian bowling attack.

Bavuma, who has struggled to find form this World Cup, fell for a duck in the first over.

The 33-year-old batsman won the toss and elected to bat first but he only faced four balls before he was dismissed without scoring.

Last week, Bavuma sustained a hamstring injury against Afghanistan last Friday and was doubtful to play against the Aussies.

“Physically, I feel alright. Obviously not 100%,” Bavuma said this week in Kolkata as per ESPN.

“So obviously this day [today] becomes important in terms of the decision about tomorrow [match day]. I’m quite confident but it’s not a unilateral decision that will be made.”
