Bavuma to return to South Africa on Thursday

He is expected to return to the team sometime next week just in time of the team’s opener against Sri Lanka next Sunday.

Aiden Markram will captain the Proteas in Bavuma’s absence, said Cricket SA.

Last week, Anrich Nortjie and Sisanda Magala were ruled out of the World Cup through injury.

Bavuma did say complacency won’t creep in when they play the low-ranked teams in the World Cup.

“We’ve been challenging ourselves and each other to make sure that awareness is there and we’re not taking things for granted.

“But we’ve also needed to find actual, practical ways as to what we need to do to keep that awareness up and ensure that our eye is on the ball and we try stay in the present moment as much as we can,” Bavuma said.
