BREAKING: Bavuma selected to play in semis, wins the toss

Temba Bavuma won the toss and has elected the Proteas to bat first against Australia in the World Cup semi-final.

Proteas batsman Temba Bavuma has been declared fit to play Thursday’s crucial Cricket World Cup semi-final match against Australia on Thursday.

The 33-year-old sustaining a hamstring injury in South Africa’s last match against Afghanistan last Friday and was doubtful to play against the Aussies.

During the week, the South African captain was seen doing light training.

“Physically, I feel alright. Obviously not 100%,” Bavuma said this week in Kolkata as per ESPN.

“So obviously this day [today] becomes important in terms of the decision about tomorrow [match day]. I’m quite confident but it’s not a unilateral decision that will be made.”

The game between Australia and South African is currently underway.

Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first on Thursday.

The Proteas have never beaten Australia in a World Cup knock out match and this is their perfect opportunity to break the curse and reach their first ever World Cup final.

The winner of Thursday’s match will face India on Sunday.
