With the World Cup in July, the Banyana Banyana squad is taking every opportunity to prepare. They play Serbia away in a friendly on Monday, 10 April 2023.

The Game

The Banyana Banyana squad is leaving for Serbia on Thursday, 6 April for the international friendly on the 10th. The match will be played at  Sportski Centar Fudbalskog Saveza Srbije (Stara Pazova) at 13:30 CAT. As things stand, this will be their last international before the World Cup. Serbia is currently ranked 35th in the world.

Fifa Women’s world cup

Australia and New Zealand are hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in July and August this year.

Banyana Banyana will play the following fixtures during the opening round of the tournament:

  • South Africa v Sweden on 23 July at 07:00 CAT (currently ranked 3rd)
  • South Africa v Argentina on 28 July at 02:00 CAT (currently ranked 28th)
  • South Africa v Italy on 2 August at 09:00 CAT (currently ranked 16th)

South Africa secured their place in the tournament after winning the Women’s African Cup of Nations in 2022 and is currently ranked 54th in the world.
