It is no secret that Kaizer Chiefs are linked with Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane and it seems the Citizens will finally sell their prized asset.

According to coach Eric Tinkler’s sentiments, City are set to release a number of their players as he looks to bolster his ranks for the upcoming DStv Premiership campaign.

As things stand, Kaizer Chiefs failed to sign Khanyisa Mayo who has just extended his deal, but they could still land Mduduzi Mdantsane’s signature.

If Tinkler’s remarks are anything to go by, Mduduzi Mdantsane could be one of the players that will leave City ahead of the 2023/24 season.

This comes as Tinkler previously disclosed that Amakhosi, as Chiefs faithful refer to the club, came close to signing his linkman in the January transfer window.

Coach Arthur Zwane’s side are said to have reignited their interest in the skilled attacker, Mdantsane and the City manager appears to have resigned to the possibility of losing the star midfielder.

“There will be some players that will be leaving us but those decisions, believe it or not, they’ve all been made,” said Tinkler as per SABC Sport.

“The one issue that we have and I tell agents, we got too many foreigners in our squad currently.”

The former Maritzburg United boss also revealed that their mission is to also release foreign players as they currently have seven on their roster.

Among some of his midfielders, Zwane currently has the likes of Phathutshedzo Nange at Chiefs but the former Bidvest Wits player is heavily linked with a move away from Naturena.

SuperSport United are interested in his signature and it is rumoured that he might reunite with Gavin Hunt whom he worked with at Wits.

Matsatsantsa CEO Stan Matthews has since confirmed their interest in Nange, saying Hunt likes the midfielder but they will need to know if he is free or not.

“We have seven foreign players and we have to make a decision on two of them because we can only keep five. So, there will be one or two changes in terms of the foreign spots,” added Tinkler.

“We will obviously announce that when it’s the right time. With regards to Mdantsane again that announcement will be made at the right time.”
