Underfire Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has finally broken his silence after some of the fans pelted him with objects at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng.

A section of disgruntled Chiefs supporters in Phokeng vented their anger at the coach, Zwane as they expressed unhappiness over the club’s poor displays.

Speaking for the first time since the last weekend’s incident, Zwane said he understands the fans’ frustrations as they demanded results and admitted Chiefs are going through a challenging phase as a team.

The Glamour Boys coach, Zwane was seen escorted off the pitch by security officials and the club said that a police shield accidentally hit him near the eye.

ZWANE REACTS TO FAN BEHAVIOUR IN PHOKENG

‘Mangethe’, as admiring fans refer to Zwane, said they are also worried as a technical team and that they are working very hard to change their fortunes.

The former winger guided Amakhosi to a loss in the Nedbank Cup versus bitter Orlando Pirates before losing to SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership.

The South African has gathered that Zwane has recovered from the incident and will be available when they meet Cape Town City on Saturday.

“I’ve seen them supporting the team through thick and thin,” he told Chiefs’ media team.

“I’ve seen them supporting the team, even when things were not going our way.

“I know how they want things to improve in the squad, we’re also worried about the situation because we thought we could make the situation better, even far better.”

ZWANE BREAKS SILENCE AS CHIEFS ARE STRUGGLING

As they looked to end their unwanted trophy drought this season, the loss to the Buccaneers in the Ke Yona competition made things worse for Zwane.

In his reaction, the Soweto-born coach conceded to their shambolic performances, while expressing hope for better days ahead.

“When you’re in a phase that we’re in, you’ll always have those hiccups and challenges here and there,” he added.

“But they are always in our thoughts, we always want to make them happy and most definitely the time will come when they will be happy.

“When they are happy and smiling like others, they will forget about days like this.”
