BREAKING: Matthew Booth finally responds to wife Sonia’s ‘cheating’ claims 

Former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth has finally opened up about claims of cheating on his wife Sonia.

Earlier this week, the Booth’s made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, with Sonia appearing to expose Matthew for cheating. 

Sonia exposed the ex-player

Sonia, who is Matthew’s long-term wife took to her social media to expose a series of events that sought to trace the former Mamelodi Sundowns’ star’s infidelity. The most famous of these events being that of the “Cheesecake” incident.  This was believed to be the final drawer for Sonia who traced back events beginning on Valentine’s Day this year.

Sonia even went as far as hiring a private investigator upon having growing suspicions of Matthew’s alleged cheating on her. Furthermore, she is of the belief that Matthew was in fact, cheating on her with Bongani Mthombeni-Moller, the recipient of that cheesecake. 

Booth breaks silence

After remaining silent amid a lot of social media backlash, Matthew finally took to his official Twitter account today, and sought to dismiss the claims from Sonia, as just that, ‘claims’. The lanky SuperSport analyst also went as far as saying he was disappointed that his wife would resort to that action over ‘unfounded allegations’

“It is the utmost sadness and disappointment that my wife Sonia Booth resorted to airing these unfounded allegations on all platforms with an intention to tarnish my name without discussing them with me, and without considering the damage that these allegations will cause, especially to out minor children who are in the middle of their final exams and to the Mthombeni-Moller family.The matter has been handed over to my attorneys who have been instructed to vigorously take the necessary steps to claim the appropriate relief. I will leave this to the legal system and let the truth prevail in due course.I would like to appeal to Mrs Mthombeni-Moeller, the corporates and sponsors who have partnered with the Booth Trust for the advancement of soccer development initiatives not to allow this personal matter to deter the good work that’s being done, and that which lies ahead.” Read the statement from Matthew.

It now remains to be seen how this situation eventually unfolds between the Booth’s and how it affects their marriage going forward.
