Adriaan Wildschutt is the new holder of the South African 10 000m record, breaking the old mark on Saturday that stood for 24 years.

Adriaan Wildschutt is the new holder of the South African 10 000m record, breaking the old mark on Saturday that stood for 24 years.

Competing at the Track Fest meeting in Los Angeles, Wildschutt stopped the clock in a time of 27:23.10.
In doing so, Wildschutt, still only 25 years old, broke Hendrick Ramaala’s record of 27:29.94 which was set in then Port Elizabeth in 1999.

Adriaan Wildschutt, who was born in Ceres in the Western Cape, runs for the Hoka NAZ Elite team in the United States.
