Following the sentencing of the Woolworths store looter Mbuso Moloi by the Durban High Court today, Friday, 7 June, some have questioned the overlooked individuals.

OUTCRY OVER WOOLWORTHS LOOTER SENTENCING

Moloi was part of a surge of looters who helped themselves to goods during the 2021 July unrest in Durban. Moloi stood out from hundreds of videos that were taken during the ordeal. He was filmed pushing a trolley full of goods to a Mercedes Benz outside a looted Woolworths outlet in Glenwood. Although he was singled out, there were too many identifiable faces that caught the public eye during the unrest, why him? Some have asked online.

“In South Africa, SAPS and Justice system like to go all out when it comes to ordinary citizens and minor things but when the stakes are high & real criminals have to be arrested and prosecuted, you will swear that we don’t have SAPS. Where’s that guy who ate the whole cake at Checkers?” social media commentator Man’s Not Bary Roux also weighed in. (sweetchildbirth.com)
