If you bought any of Woolworths’ juices in the last few weeks, you’ll want to pay close attention now. Woolies is the latest brand to have to come out and request a juice recall. That’s just days after juice giant LiquiFruit, announced a recall on some of its own apple juice products.

Juice recall: First LiquiFruit, now Woolworths

In a statement, Woolworths confirmed that it is asking customers to return its own brand of 200ML 100% apple juice. That’s specifically for boxes that have an expiry date of the 23rd, 28th and 29th of March 2022.

“We are recalling single boxes and six packs with the best before date of 23, 28 and 29 March 2022. It was identified that these products contain levels of patulin above the regulatory limits. Patulin is a naturally occurring mycotoxin commonly associated with apples.”

Or to put it into simple English, it’s related to mould that normally occurs on rotting apples.

Woolworths says that it actively manages and prevents microbial contamination of its food and has “done so for years”.
The retailer says it also has strict protocols as part of its food safety management process.

“To verify the safety of our products, we implement additional monitoring where we independently have our food tested,” Woolworths says.

So if you have any of the juice boxes mentioned, you can return them to any Woolies store and get a full refund.

Pioneer Foods: The supplier of Woolworths juice

Woolworths has also confirmed that that Pioneer Foods, the parent company of LiquiFruit, is the supplier of their affected apple juice. That certainly explains why both juice brands have been recalled in the same week.

Around 7000 LiquiFruit juices are affected by their own recall this week.
