Woman shot and injured in Brakpan Guesthouse shooting

Police are investigating the shooting that took place earlier this week at a guesthouse in Brakpan.

A 50-year-old woman was shot and injured in a guesthouse in Brakpan earlier this week. 


Captain Pearl Van Staad, police spokesperson said the shooting happened on Tuesday at about 18:45. 

“The Brakpan Saps was summoned to a complaint of shooting in Dalpark Brakpan.

“On arrival at the scene, police noticed a female age 50yrs lying on the floor of the living room with a gunshot wound to the right-back abdomen.”

Van Staad said the woman’s son was also in the house but unharmed.

“According to the son he just heard gunshots and the next thing his mother was lying on the floor.”


She added that the injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

According to Van Staad police are investigating a case of attempted. 

“No arrest has been made yet.”

Meanwhile, an elderly 62-year-old mother was stabbed to death in her home in Everest Heights in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday afternoon.

Prem Balram, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said officers discovered the body of Ormilla Samdath in her kitchen at her home on Olivine Road in Everest Heights.

“The woman was found to have sustained at least six stab wounds to her body and blunt force trauma to her head & face.”

Officers are looking for her 38-year-old son, Shalendra Samdath, who is driving in her red Toyota Corolla with registration NJ 31823.
