ActionSA has received the thumbs up from the Buthelezi family, for its plans to have eThekwini Municipality renamed after the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

BUTHELEZI CLAN BACKS ACTIONSSA

The late AmaZulu Traditional Prime Minister passed away in September due to a prolonged illness.

ActionSA provincial leader met with the clans new leader Chief Zuzifa Buthelezi at the family homestead and royal residence at KwaPhindangene.

“We believe it is fitting that, in our efforts to honour him, we consult with his family and seek their support in this matter” says Mncwango.

“We welcome iNkosi Zuzifa and the family elders’ decision to support our efforts, and we hold their endorsement in high regard.”

LATE PRINCE’S WORKS IN THE METRO

Mncwango says he will now be in consultations with all political parties within municipality about the proposed change.

The late IFP leader in countering the lack of access to tertiary education and studying certain courses for black people during apartheid, founded Mangosuthu Technikon (Now Mangosuthu University of Technology) in Umlazi, south of Durban in 1979.

The M30 highway near in the university, has also been named after the late Prime Minister as it is known as Mangosuthu Highway.
