Job description
In order to further propel a sustained increase in traffic to our website over the last few months we are looking for an experienced journalist with web writing and subbing skills.
The job requires assisting the editor by writing articles and interviews as well as sub-editing content. The successful candidate would also be responsible for looking after our hugely successful blogs and columns space and sourcing new writers to contribute regular content.
The position is available in our office in Cape Town (Claremont) from 1 September 2013.
Personal Skills/Attributes
- Passion for current affairs and about the internet as a medium
- Interest in Search Engine Optimisation and strategies to drive web traffic
- Excellent spelling and grammar and the ability to sub-edit copy fast and accurately
- Attention to detail
- Be able to work flexible hours and meet strict deadlines.
- Ideally the candidate would have had some experience living abroad, as the newspaper/website is focused on the South African community in the UK.
