Severe weather alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS

A.Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in strong winds, heavy downpours, and large hail are expected over the extreme eastern parts of Northern Cape and the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, as well as the central and western parts of both North-West and Free State.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the northern parts of Northern Cape and Moses Kotane L.M of North West.

Conditions and UVB forecast

Gauteng

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low

Mpumalanga

Temperature: Cloudy along the escarpment with morning fog patches, otherwise fine and warm becoming partly cloudy in the extreme west and southern parts where isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected. It will become hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy in the western Bushveld where isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected.

North West

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, otherwise scattered. It will be windy over the western parts.

Free State

Temperature:Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the central parts. It will be windy over the western and southern parts.

Northern Cape

Temperature: Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, where it will be windy.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate west to south-westerly from the afternoon.

Western Cape

Temperature: Fog patches and drizzle over the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool. It will be warm in places over the north-eastern parts with very isolated showers and thundershowers over the extreme north-eastern parts from late afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate to fresh west to north-westerly from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but cloudy and cool with light rain in the south. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers over the interior from the afternoon.

The Western half – The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming light to moderate southwesterly late morning.

The Eastern half: Cloudy with fog and drizzle in places south of the escarpment in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, becoming cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, reaching fresh to strong in the north from evening. It will become light to moderate south-westerly in the south from midmorning

KwaZulu-Natal

Temperature: Morning fog patches, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
