Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane led the charge against Jacob Zuma, with a blistering assault on the embattled president and his ANC party.

During his opening speech in parliament ahead of the secret ballot on the vote of no confidence against Zuma, Maimane challenged fellow MPs to “change the course of history.”

“Since the dawn of our democracy, the stakes have never been higher.”

Maimane had earlier rallied the crowds gathered in the Mother City, many of them dressed in blue DA shirts. Further protests continued in Pretoria throughout Tuesday.

The secret ballot was agreed to by speaker Baleka Mbete, who would become acting president of South Africa is the motion is passed later today.

Twitter wasted no time in reacting to the opposition leader’s speech, with predictably contrasting opinions.

But JuJu was at it again.

Attention was predictably drawn away from the DA, as well as the serious matter at hand, by EFF leader Julius Malema, who had South Africans in hysterics yet again.
