In a show of unity, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC), ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula, and other allies march in Cape Town, in a #Free Palestine campaign.

On Thursday at Community House in Salt River, Moulana Shuayb Appleby, the acting president of MJC, declared a collective effort for a mass march on Saturday.

The march condemns Israel’s actions, causing the loss of innocent Palestinian lives, according to EWN.

In a series of tweets, Mbalula expressed the party’s support for Palestine.

“There is a looming humanitarian crisis in Gaza as Israel intensifies its bombardment of civilians and infrastructure, including the latest hospital.

More than 1.1 million people forced out of north Gaza, over 400 000 displaced internally and more than 200 000 sheltered in a UN compound run by UNRWA.”

“As South Africans, we fully understand the long-term effects and the lasting social, economic, psychological, spatial, and inter-generational impacts of apartheid and colonialism.”

Mbalula stated, “We stand with the Palestinian people today as we did during our long struggle for freedom and democracy. Our support transcends religion or skin color; it’s a human connection.

Their lives matter, and responses to catastrophe and injustice should not be determined by race or religion.”
