The trial within a trial of the five men accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa resumes at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday, 6 March.

The matter was postponed on Monday after accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya wanted to call three more witnesses that are police officers.

SENZO MEYIWA MURDER TRIAL RESUMES

On Monday, 4 March, the court was supposed to hear closing arguments in the trial within a trial. However, Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu who represents Sibiya told the court that the accused wants to bring an application to have his case reopened in the trial within a trial on the admissibility of a confession he made.

Also, instructing attorney Sipho Ramosepele will no longer represent Sibiya. Ramosepele and Mngomezulu worked together representing Sibiya and accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi.

Sibiya is among the five men on trial at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa who was killed at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo on 26 October 2014. Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli.

They face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition. All five men pleaded not guilty.
