Authorities says the trucks were set alight following an accident. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Mpumalanga police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says the motive behind attack is yet unknown.

“After the accident, the drivers were told to get out of trucks before setting them alight” says Mohlala.

The road remains closed and Mohlala advises motorists to use alternative routes.

“We would advise the motorists if they are coming from Pretoria towards the side of Nelspruit to utilise the Schomanskloof turnoff and they need to drive with caution.”
