Watch: Drone footage of NMMU campus after areas ravaged by veld fires
Students were evacuated from residences and some classes were suspended.
Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth was forced to suspend some classes today. The North, South and Ocean Sciences campuses were closed for half of the day after veld fires affected those parts of the campus.
Classes have since resumed after lunch after the university undertook a risk assessment. The fire erupted in a nearby nature reserve and led to some students in residences being evacuated in the early hours of the morning. The Herald and Times Live managed to capture drone footage of the fire damage in the area. Watch the video below.
