Rea Vaya has apologised and thanked the commuters for their patience over the two days of non-operation in the metro.

Rea Vaya, which has proven to be unreliable lately, has resumed operations today, Sunday, 1 October.

REA VAYA ANNOUNCES RETURN OF OPERATIONS

Yesterday evening, Saturday, 30 September, Rea Vaya announced the return on social media.

“Rea Vaya Passengers are informed that buses will be operating effective tomorrow, Sunday 1 October 2023,” the company said.

“The City apologise to passengers for lack of service for the past two days. We thank you for your patience.”

The commuters have endured the worst experience after the company announced the cancellation of the service for two days in a row. No regular updates were made which further caused an inconvenience to the commuters.

The issue comes after a labour dispute which resulted in almost 10 buses to be out of service a week ago.

SEVERAL BUSES EXCLUDED FROM OPERATING LAST WEEK

The City of Joburg announced the frustrating news to the passengers.

“Rea Vaya Passengers are informed that T1, C1, C2, C3, F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5 buses are NOT operating at the moment. We advise passengers who use these routes to seek alternative transport. Regular updates on the situation will be given. We apologise for the inconvenience,” the City of Joburg communicated on socials.

According to Rea Vaya, the latter buses are temporarily not operating due to a labour dispute between bus drivers and bus operating company.

JOBURG COMMUTERS CRITICISE THE METRO BUS COMPANY

The commuters had their say after the cancellation of operations on Thursday.

Kefiloe Ntshabiseng said: “If this company was owned by whites we wouldn’t be where we are now. Let’s admit blacks va hloleha finish and klarrr. In this company is politicians and previous taxi owners what are we expect besides poor service”.

Jephenia Thembekile said: “I think it’s time we people must take action against them badlala ngabantu.”

Makau Geni Manyelo said: “Can you at least give us that money for alternative transport”.

Musa Potentate asked: “Can you Please be honest what is Really Happening?”

Mduduzi Majola replied: “I heard rumours that some drivers are complaining about Jozi cbd traffic as the Rea Vaya route is closed due to the July explosion”.
