Midlands EMS received an urgent call on a rainy evening in Hilton, reporting a motor vehicle accident on Dennis Shepstone road.

The EMS crews were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Two people entrapped after accident

Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle down a steep 10m embankment with two passengers severely entrapped inside the vehicle.

The situation was alarming, and immediate action was required to free the passengers.

The rescue team worked together and used specialised equipment such as the “Jaws Of Life” to extract the two passengers.

The slippery conditions of the road made the rescue operation even more challenging.

Once freed, both patients were assessed by the EMS team and were found to be in critical condition.

Cause still unclear

The EMS team acted swiftly and provided necessary medical treatment on the scene before transporting both patients to the nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the local authorities.
