Australia: Man fined for surfing with pet snake In Queensland, a Gold Coast surfer made the decision to ride his surfboard alongside his pet python. The couple can be seen enjoying a few waves in the sunshine in the drone video. Simon Peters captured the peculiar scene, showing Higor Fiuza, the surfer walking toward the sea while carrying his female pet snake, named Shiva, around his shoulders. The locals say that Fiuza is a "local legend". The Queensland Department of Environment and Science states that it started looking into the surfer after Mr. Fiuza made local news. They say that by taking Shiva out in public, the man violated the terms of his permit to keep the snake and put her at risk. This week, the department fined him A$2,322 (£1,207; $1,495).
