KZN North Coast expecting an exceptional summer season

The KZN North Coast has said that they are all geared up for an epic summer season this year, expecting all accommodation to be fully booked.

KZN North Coast is about to get busy

The North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has said that they are forecasting an incredible summer season for the region, with all accommodation expected to be fully booked between the dates 15 December 2023 and 5 January 2024.

As reported by tourism update, Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC Siboniso Duma spoke at the North Coast roll-out of KwaZulu Natal’s summer season campaign on 8 December, saying that his department was working closely with Tourism KZN to prepare for the tourist influx.

“We have teamed up with events planners, tourism agencies and associations to ensure that there is a line-up of activities throughout the corners of the province. We can confidently state that we have something for everyone, from young to senior, from beach-goers to nature lovers,” Duma said.

“We are also requesting beachgoers not to drink and swim. Let us also maintain the cleanliness of our beaches to ensure that the next person has quality time throughout the festive season.” Duma added.

International tourists a boon

It was also reported that international tourists to the region had risen to 23% of overall visits, with the top source markets being Germany (26%), the UK (18%), the Netherlands (6%), Australia (6%) and the USA (5%).

Duma added that these figures were a good indication that the international tourism sector in the country was starting to recover.

According to latest numbers from Statistics South Africa, month-on-month overseas arrivals has increased by 16.5%, from 158 407 in September 2023 to 189 778 in October 2023.

Of these 189 788 arrivals, European tourists were recording as increasing the most from 86 228 in September to a whopping 122 599 in October.
