In a tragic shooting, a 36-year-old woman lost her life as she was on her way to work, in front of early morning commuters.

This tragic event unfolded at Mbombela CBD near a bus terminal around 05:20 a.m., according to Colonel Donald Mdhluli.

Tragic shooting a result of a drive-by

According to reports, the victim was targeted in a drive-by shooting, supposedly conducted from a white Isuzu Light Delivery Vehicle pickup truck. The attacker aimed at her upper body, causing her deadly harm.

Mdhluli stated that both law enforcement and medical emergency teams swiftly arrived at the location, but unfortunately, they pronounced the woman deceased.

Nelspruit Police Station has formally recorded a homicide case. The reason behind this dreadful deed remains uncertain at present.

Nevertheless, the authorities have not dismissed the possibility of it being linked to domestic violence. Up to now, no suspects have been apprehended.

SAPS calling on the public for assistance with any information

The police are asking the public for any details about the suspect’s location. “You can reach Detective Colonel Thamsanqa Mkhaliphi at 082 408 5631, or people can contact the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111, or submit information via MYSAPSAPP.”

“All information will remain private, and individuals can opt to remain anonymous,” said Mdhluli.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, strongly condemned this brutal incident in which a woman died. She also promised that the police would actively chase the suspect to ensure swift justice.
