A bloody triple murder in Gqeberha claimed the lives of three people, including a three-year-old toddler.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, police are on the hunt for those who shot and killed three people and injured two other people in their home on Pienaar Street.
“It is alleged that at about 23:15, the door was kicked open by three unknown suspects who fired at the occupants.”
Naidu said.
Naidu identified the deceased as Ellen Hutchinson (52), Claudio Thomas (44), and three-year-old Emilio Hutchinson.
“The injured persons, a 13-year-old female, and a 19-year-old male were taken to hospital. Motive is under investigation.”
She furthermore said murder, as well as attempted murder cases, are under investigation by the Provincial Anti-Gang Investigation Unit.
Any person who can assist police with information relating to the murders may contact Detective Warrant Officer Neville Gouws at 082 387 5904 or, alternatively, 08600 10111.
People believe that the 45-year-old allegedly died from a drug overdose.
De Jager allegedly beat and cut the throat of his wife, Liezel, 38, at their Amanzimtoti home in October 2021.
Shortly after her death, people reported Werner missing for days. Rescuers found him in a serious condition and airlifted him to a nearby hospital.
Liezel worked as a popular pastor for the NG Kerk Suidkus at the time of her death.
The Amanzimtoti Branch Court recently denied bail to De Jager, and authorities expected him to return to court on 10 May.
Democratic Alliance (DA) Ian Cameron confirmed De Jager’s death on Monday afternoon.
