Tavern shooting: Three killed, four injured in Mpumalanga

Seven people were allegedly shot by armed suspects at a tavern outside Mayflower in Mpumalanga. Three were declared dead.

Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for three suspects who are looking for three suspects who allegedly shot seven people at a tavern in Dundonald outside Mayflower. 

The incident happened on Sunday morning, 27 August.  

TAVERN PATRONS SHOT AT IN MPUMALANGA 

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said three suspects allegedly entered a tavern on Sunday, 27 August 2023 at around 04:00, pointed firearms at patrons and started to rob them of their belongings.

Mohlala said they tried to access cash from the bartender but failed.

“They robbed the DJ of his equipment. Before they left the scene, they shot randomly whereby seven people were shot at. Two died on the scene while the third victim passed on at the local clinic. Four were taken to hospital and two immediately discharged,” he explained. 

Cases of murder, attempted murder as well as business robbery were registered and police are continuing with the investigation.

Police have urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous
